Subsidy Scam: Justice Minister orders withdrawal of charges against suspects

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday withdrew criminal charges filed before a Lagos High Court, sitting in Igbosere, Lagos Island against some oil subsidy suspects and their Chief Executive Officers.

Consequently, the trial judge, Justice Samuel Candide-Johnson struck out the suit instituted against Durosola Omogbenigun, Peter Mba, Integrated Resources Limited and Pinnacle Oil and Gas Ltd.
At the resumed hearing of the suit, EFCC’s counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo in an application dated July 26 brought pursuant to Section 73 of the Administration of the Criminal Justice Law, 2007 sought leave of the court to withdraw the charges.
Mr Oyedepo told the court that he had instructions from the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) to withdraw the charge against the defendants.
In a 10-pragraph affidavit attached to the application, deposed to by one Usani Francis, a prosecuting counsel with the EFCC, the anti-graft agency stated that the charges preferred against the defendants were misconstrued by the prosecution and were inadvertently filed against the defendants.
“That a review of the prosecution’s case and the evidence available to the prosecution clearly show that the defendants did not commit the offences for which they are charged’’, he swore.

U.S. gymnast Danell Leyva's Hottt Pictures

Danell Leyva is making headlines this week, and not for his performance in the London Olympics, but for his antics with an iPhone.
Deadspin claims a woman came forward and asked if she could "submit some risque photos of Danell Leyva," asking for nothing in return. Why?
She says she had "some in underwear and some nudes" of the Miami native, who she says "sorta played" her on a promised photo exchange.
What that means is an open question, but here's one:

Snoop Lion: Snoop Dogg Unveils New Name, Reggae Focus

Snoop Dogg is now the artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg.
The rapper announced on Monday night that he's no longer Snoop Dogg ... or a rapper. He will be focusing on creating reggae music under the name Snoop Lion!
"Rap is not a challenge to me," the Doggfather said Monday at a press event in New York City, explaining his transformation to the ... Lionfather?

"With no disrespect to other rappers, but they can't f**k with me in rap," he added.
"I've won every accolade you can in rap, they call me 'Uncle Snoop' in rap. When you're an uncle, it's time to find something new ... I want to feel like a kid again."
Thus, get ready to hear Snoop Lion roar ... or at least drop smooth, Caribbean-influenced beats on his new project called, Reincarnated.
"It's not that I want to become Snoop Dogg on a reggae track," Snoop reiterated. "I want to bury Snoop Dogg, and become Snoop Lion." "I didn't know that until I went to the temple, where the High Priest asked me what my name was, and I said, 'Snoop Dogg.' And he looked me in my eyes and said, 'No more. You are the light; you are the lion.'"
"From that moment on, it's like I had started to understand why I was there."
