Eva Rausing Dead; Hans Kristian Rausing Under Investigation

British police are investigating the possibility that heiress Eva Rausing may have died of a drug overdose up to a week before her body was found by police.
She was discovered dead Tuesday at her multimillion dollar London home.
Eva's husband, UK billionaire Hans Kristian Rausing, 49, is still being treated in hospital today after being arrested on Tuesday when detectives discovered the body of Eva, 48, during a bedroom search of the couple’s home.
He had been stopped for driving erratically earlier in the day and found to have drugs on his person. He is being investigated in her death.
 As part of the investigation into what detectives are describing as Eva's “unexplained” death, they are examining how long she might have lain dead and why.

A postmortem Tuesday proved inconclusive and further tests are being carried out to establish the cause of death, which could've taken place up to a week ago.

Police from the London Metropolitan police’s homicide and serious crime command unit have yet to interview Rausing, who remains under arrest but had been transferred to the hospital for treatment, with police officers present.

Over 90 people die scooping fuel as tanker explodes in Rivers State

At least 90 people including women and children were burnt to death early today Thursday July 12th while scooping fuel from a fallen tanker at Okobe in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State. The fuel tanker crashed into some vehicles and fell, spilling its content but didn't immediately burst into flames. Unfortunately it exploded when residents of the area went to the scene to scoop fuel from the tanker.

Rivers State police spokesman Ben Ugwuegbulam explained:

Early this morning a tanker loaded with petrol fell in Okogbe and people trooped to the scene obviously to scoop the spilled fuel and suddenly there was fire resulting in casualties

A team of police officers, soldiers and emergency workers were dispatched to the scene, where burnt bodies were removed.

Wimbledon: I never thought I’d be winner again, says Serena

Serena Williams celebrated a fifth Wimbledon women’s singles title on Saturday and admitted she thought she’d never be a winner again after battling a life-threatening illness.
Williams, who now has 14 Grand Slam titles, was laid low by dangerous blood clots that kept her out of the sport for a year until the eve of last year’s tournament.

But the American buried all those fears with a 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 win in the final over Polish world number three Agnieszka Radwanska.

“I can’t describe it. I almost didn’t make it a few years ago. I was in hospital and I thought I’d never be here again, so this makes it so worth it,” said Williams, the first 30-year-old since Martina Navratilova in 1990 to take the title at the All England Club.

“It’s all the sweeter. I was so down but you never give up. You have to continue,” added Williams, who won her first Wimbledon title in 2002.

Radwanska, bidding to become the first Pole to win a major title, had been laid low by a respiratory illness in recent days but battled hard before losing.

It was her third defeat in three matches against Serena, but the first time she had taken a set off the champion.

“I am very proud to have got to the final. I am still shaking but I tried, it just wasn’t my day,” said the 23-year-old, who was fighting back tears after the final.

“I have been unlucky here, playing in the wind and the rain, but I still played some great matches.”

Nasarawa State Governor’s Son Arrested With Hard Drugs In Malaysia

Kali Umar, son of the Nasarawa state Governor, Alhaji Tanko Almakura has been arrested and detained in a Malaysia prison for possession of hard drugs and gun running, information revealed.
He was reportedly picked up by the Malaysian security personnel following a tip off.
Information recently made available revealed that Umar, who is the son of the first Lady, Hajiya Salamatu Al Makura was a student at the Nasarawa State University in Keffi where he majored in Social Sciences. During his second year at the University, his father, the governor of Nasarawa State, sought admission for him at a school in Malaysia and flew him to Malaysia to continue his studies.
The governor’s son was reported to have been arrested in the last week of June 2012 resulting in his father cutting short a USA official trip so as to make a quick stop at Malaysia to attend to the case. It is uncertain to what extent the father was able to influence the case but credible sources indicate the son is still be held in detention in Malaysia.
Talking with the Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the governor, Abdulhamid Kwara, on Friday July 6, 2012, he declined to comment – stating that “the matter was a family affair”.
Other members of the Al Makura administration contacted remained tight-lipped on the matter. The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary however pleaded to be left out of the matter.

P-square lose mum

Mother of Nigerian entertainers, Peter and Paul Okoye popularly known as P-Square is dead.
It was gathered that Mrs. Okoye lost the battle to a sickness which has not been disclosed. No word yet from Peter, Paul, Tony, Jude and the rest of the Okoye siblings. But close sources confirmed that at the initial stage of the illness, she was taken to St. Nicholas Hospital, one of the most expensive medical centres in Nigeria. She was later flown abroad for further treatment, where she passed on.
Since the news broke, the Psquare family has been receivingcondolence messages from friends and colleagues.
Mrs. Okoye was fond of attending her son’s events as often as she could, her last public appearance being the P-Square Invasion Concert in August 2011.
An unrepentant supporter of her kids, the late Mrs. Okoye, although a Christian minister, encouraged pop duo Peter and Paul with their music careers, giving her full backing long before it became profitable.

Unlike the photoshopped image of Middleton with yellow teeth, an Australian magazine called Woman's Day has published an image of Kate and Prince William on their honeymoon on North Island, a tiny archipelago in the Seychelles.

It's unclear how a paparazzi member sneaked on to the tropical paradise, as it's rumored to be home to more tortoises than people. But one insider said the shutter bug likely earned an enormous payday for the pic.

"Any shot of them on their honeymoon was going to go for at least half a million but because Kate is in a bikini I would estimate that this is a million dollar shot," celebrity business journalist Jo Piazza told Yahoo! Shine.

Patience Jonathan Appointed Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa State

Our first lady yesterday became the first First Lady of Nigeria to be appointed Permanent Secretary in a State civil service. 

Mrs Jonathan and 17 others were appointed Perm Sec in the state civil service by the governor of Bayelsa State, Governor Seriake Dickson. The announcement was broadcast on the state radio station yesterday evening Wednesday July 11th.

Explaining their reason for the appointment, the senior special assistant to the governor on media affairs, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said that the First Lady was a teacher in the state’s civil service and has been on leave of absence since 1999 to join her  husband in his political service; first as a deputy governor, governor, vice president, then president. If not for the leave of absence, according to him, Mrs Jonathan would have risen to the status of a permanent secretary by now.
