Group Condemns Mobbing Of Homosexuals In Imo

 

A group, the Nigeria HIV info, dedicated to the protection of the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS, has condemned the mob beating of three men accused of engaging in homosexuality in Imo State.
In a statement by Steve Aborisade, its coordinator, the group said it has “reliably confirmed and authenticated the incident and of the identity of one of the men.”

The three men were stripped naked and allegedly lynched on Monday, in Ekwe, near Umuka in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State. Mr. Aborisade called on security agents to respond to the plight of the men.

“As it is, only the perpetrators and the community can tell the whole world what has become of these men who were seriously beaten up, stripped naked and paraded around the community bounded together like animals on allegation that they were caught having sex together,” Mr. Aborisade said.
Mr. Aborisade said a reliable source “reliably confirmed that the men were yet to be released from the location where they are being held in Umuka, Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.”
The group appealed to the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, to intervene to save the lives of the men.
“While acknowledging that several Nigerians find the practice of homosexuality strange and unnatural, we also realize that it does not confer a license to trample on the rights of people who engages in it, with the sort of inhuman treatment that was meted out to these them.
“So many informed commentators, including Nobel Prize winner, Prof Wole Soyinka have commented on the scientifically proven fact that more than anything, gays are just victims of biology,” the group said.
Mr. Aborisade said instead of being singled out for harassment and prosecution, sexual minorities deserve support and access to sexual health services that they lack as citizens of this country.
He said sexual minorities “remain a high risk group to HIV/AIDS infection, yet it is a community that has been denied of all access to life saving HIV/AIDS services.”
“We suggest that our parliamentarians should devote equal energy at fishing out and punishing our treasury thieves who are doing more harm to the continued survival of our nation instead of dissipating energy on an issue that borders on private morality.
“We enjoin other rights group to show solidarity and ensure that the rights of sexual minorities are protected like other marginalised groups in the country,” Mr. Aborisade said

In a new interview, Dina Lohan basically implies that Lindsay Lohan is a train wreck because she saw her father, Michael Lohan, abuse drugs - and her mom.

"I need to make the world aware that Lindsay is messed up because her father is so messed up," Dina told the New York Daily News in an explosive story.

Dina claims her daughter's ongoing problems all stem from graphic incidents in which she witnessed her father beat her mother in 1986 - and rape in 1990.
"Lindsay saw her dad abuse me - that's why she's so screwed up," Dina said. "She saw a lot of crazy stuff. I want the world to know the root of her problems."
"Lindsay saw the beatings and the abuse. She said, 'Stay, mommy, don't leave … I'm so sorry for making you stay.' But I didn't stay for Lindsay. I wanted all my kids to be happy."
Dina, 50, told the paper that the attack - one of many she says she endured during their 22-year marriage - occurred after they dined in Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.
Michael Lohan, she says, had spent the night getting drunk and high on cocaine, Dina claims, eventually leading him to punch her in the face with a closed fist.
Dina backed up her clai with a photo of a bruise under her right eye, holding an infant Lindsay (she sought medical attention December 4, 1986 for facial "blunt trauma.")
Dina Lohan said that "when Lindsay saw the photo, she was furious. She said, 'Tell the world! Talk about it!'" Michael denied the story to the paper, of course.
According to MiLo, the circumstances were completely different.
"I came in at 2 o'clock in the morning after being out with some friends," he says. "I walked in and she hit me with an ice tray. With the back of my hand I slapped her in the face."

TMZ posted the scandalous Bieber pictures, which were snapped at a party inside a Newport Beach hotel on January 2.

That's the day after a member of the paparazzi was killed in pursuit of Bieber, after claiming to a friend that he saw the artist smoking up while driving.

Insiders tell the site that Bieber's close friend Lil Twist was rolling blunts for all attendees at the event, while the star's security detail was also present.

Justin Bieber's Manager Speaks Out on Alleged Murder, Castration Plot

 

Investigators have thwarted a convicted murderer's plot to kill and castrate teen idol Justin Bieber, Albuquerque's KRQE news reports.

According to the site, Dana Martin -- currently serving two life sentences in New Mexico for raping and killing a 15-year-old girl in Vermont 12 years ago -- recruited a fellow inmate at the state prison near Las Cruces to help him carry out a series of murders, one of which was planned for the "Beauty and the Beat" singer.
Law-enforcement officials say recently released inmate Mark Staake and his nephew Tanner Ruane were supposed to take down the pop sensation at his sold-out Madison Square Garden concert in New York City in November. The plan was to strangle the young star and his bodyguard with paisley ties, Martin's calling card, and then castrate both victims.
Before the grisly deed was carried out, however, Staake was arrested in Vermont on outstanding warrants. Apparently, Martin -- who KRQE says is "obsessed" with Bieber and has a tattoo of the singer on his leg -- blew the whistle on his own scheme and revealed the whole murder plot to cops. Investigators later recorded phone calls between Martin and Ruane in which the two discussed the killings.
Ruane was subsequently apprehended by New York police, who found murder tools and pruning shears on him at the time of his arrest.
Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, spoke to Us Weekly exclusively about the planned attack, noting that the singer's well-being was his team's top priority.
"We take every precaution to protect and insure the safety of Justin and his fans," Braun said

Kevin Clash Accuser NO. 4 Alleges Underage Sex, Files Lawsuit

A fourth - yes, fourth - accuser has come forward with a lawsuit against Sesame Street's former Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash, who he accuses of sexual misconduct.

The unidentified man says he was 16 or 17 in the '90s when he met Clash in Miami Beach.

Afterward, Clash "lured the boy to visit him in New York, with promises to pay for his plane ticket, be a 'dad' to him in New York and give him cash and a free place to stay."

That's according to an excerpt from the filing released by Miami-based attorney Jeff Herman, who also represents two of the three previous Clash accusers.

The offer appealed to the boy, "who was contemplating running away," according to the suit.

"These are all vulnerable boys," Herman said at a Miami press conference. "None of them had father figures in their lives and they were looking for that father figure."

In a statement, Kevin Clash's attorney, Michael Berger, said "the lawsuit is without merit and we will vigorously defend the case and Mr. Clash's reputation."

Clash resigned from Sesame Street, where he worked as an executive producer and puppeteer for 28 years, on November 20, amid a slew of similar claims.

He stepped down the same day as a second accuser stepped forward. Clash's first accuser, Sheldon Stephens, made, then recanted, sexual abuse allegations.

Stephens accepted a legal settlement with Clash, then disavowed it.

The second accuser, Cecil Singleton, made similar claims about Clash and his relationship with him, which he says began when he was under the age of 18.

It was at that point that Clash bowed out of Sesame Street.

A third Kevin Clash accuser later claimed he was plied with booze. The puppeteer, now 52, is openly gay but denies he slept with any boys who were underage.

Ravi Shankar Dies; Music Veteran Was 92

Ravi Shankar, a legendary Indian sitar player and songwriter who was a major influence on The Beatles, has passed away. He was 92.

Shankar's manager, Earl Blackburn, emailed Bloomberg.com with the sad news, confirming that the musician died at a hospital near his residence in California. He underwent heart-valve replacement surgery on Thursday.

Seen above with George Harrison, Shankar helped the iconic band member learn Eastern music, remaining a force in the industry for decades and being nominated for a 2013 Grammy Award for Best World Music Album for "The Living Room Sessions, Part 1."

Shankar is also the father of Norah Jones.

He served in the Indian Parliament between 1986 and 1992 and last worked with Harrison in 1997; they collaborated on Shankar's "Chants of India."

20 EFCC plain-clothes men wait for Wale Babalakin at his LUTH hospital ward

The Bi-Courtney Group, has registered its displeasure at the conduct of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who have reportedly laid siege on the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, Lagos, where its Chairman, Wale Babalakin is receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
The construction firm’s spokesman, Dipo Kehinde, says the action of the EFCC is contrary to the directive of the court barring the anti-graft agency from arresting the embattled businessman.
The EFCC, however, explained that Babalakin is under surveillance to ascertain the nature of his ailment on which premise he refused to appear in court last Thursday for arraignment.
Reports say about 20 plain-clothed EFCC operatives are stationed at the medical facility to ensure that the businessman does not somehow make his way out of the country to avoid prosecution.
A source said, “The EFFC operatives, initially, resisted the hospital’s security staff and attempted to force their way into Babalakin’s ward, leading to a face-off that lasted till about 1am this morning.”
According to Bi-Courtney’s Kehinde, he said, “This is a new trend in judicial administration in Nigeria and it reflects the desperation by the EFCC to violate provisions of the law and constitution in order to circumvent justice, and a violation of the basic human rights of the citizen.
“It is noteworthy that this brings back sad memories of the days of the late Gen. Sani Abacha, when the rights of Nigerians were trampled upon with ease.”
The EFCC on its part does not appear to see anything wrong with its conduct. According to the commission’s spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, he said, “We have placed him under surveillance in order to carry out an instruction from the court. EFCC is to verify his hospitalisation and also make sure that he is present in court at the next adjourned date. Nobody is disturbing his treatment.”
The chief medical director of LUTH, Prof. Akin Osibogun denied the presence of security operatives around the ward where Babalakin was on admission or around the hospital.
Osibogun reportedly said,“I have not seen any security operatives around my patients ward and if they are in plain clothes I would also not know; but we work with law enforcement agents from time to time.
“I have not received any detaining order for him. So, nobody so far has interfered with the management of our patien,” he said.
