Woman beats foster son to death for stealing N50

She was stripped naked and made to carry the Corpse of the boy all around the area

Tragedy struck at 8, Amosu Street, Ijegun, Lagos, on Sunday as a woman identified simply as Iya Anu, allegedly beat her foster son, Seubow, to death for allegedly stealing N50.
It was learnt that Iya Anu, a mother of four, usually inflicted injuries on Seubow, her husband’s nephew and her children whenever they erred. Trouble started when 16-year-old Seubow misplaced a N1, 000 note given to him for an errand on Saturday. The development, it was learnt, irked Iya Anu who starved the teenager throughout Saturday. When Seubow could no longer bear the hunger, he sneaked out of the house at night to buy Gala. When Iya Anu knew about it she became furious, accused him of stealing her N50 and gave the teenager the beating of his life.
A neighbour who identified herself simply as Balikis said the accused must have used a hot object to batter the boy as his body was full of burns. She said, “Iya Anu began to beat him on Saturday night. The beating continued till about 9am on Sunday when her husband and the other children had left for church.
“She battered him till he gave up the ghost about noon.

Woman gives birth to baby in latrine

A middle-aged woman, Mrs. Chinwe Amoloku, on Sunday gave birth to a baby in a latrine at Umusan Ogbe, Kwale, Delta State.
Amoloku, who it was learnt, had no inkling that she was due for delivery, had visited the convenience in the evening when she gave birth without the help of a birth attendant.
In the process, the baby reportedly fell into the latrine.
She was said to have raised the alarm which attracted neighbours who rescued the baby.
“ We used a stick to push the baby into a rubber bucket tied with a rope in order to drag it out of the pit,” an eyewitness, Sunday Uzor, said.
It was learnt that the woman and her baby were later taken to a traditional birth attendant and a nurse.
Uzor said, “The woman said she was pressed and went to the toilet but when she pressed, the baby came out and fell into the latrine, while the placenta slipped into her stomach.”

Beggars storm LASG secretariat, Assembly

Beggars in Lagos State on Monday temporarily halted activities at the state secretariat, Alausa and the House of Assembly as they protested against alleged harassment by government officials and plan to bar them from operating in the state They also expressed their displeasure at the poor state of the government’s Rehabilitation Centre at Owutu, Ikorodu. The beggars, who were mainly of the northern extraction, carried placards and chanted solidarity songs. They blocked the main entrance to the secretariat, causing gridlock.

They later moved to the assembly where they prevented motorists from entering the complex.

Their spokesperson, Hassan Zakariwa, said the protest was to let the public know about their plight and how government officials had been arresting them.

He alleged that at many of their members were being detained at the rehabilitation centre under inhuman condition.

Dokubo-Asari Again- calls for SNC, dissolution of Jonathan’s govt

LEADER of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujaheed Dokubo-Asari, on Monday canvassed the dissolution of the President Goodluck Jonathan’s government to pave the way for the convocation of a Sovereign National Conference. I posted a story earlier on how badly Dokubo said he was treated in Prison (if you missed it, read it HERE)

He said the conference was the only solution to the menace of the violent Islamist sect, Boko Haram, whose members are currently executing a bombing campaign against military and police facilities and churches especially in the northern states and Abuja.

“Whether he likes it or not, Goodluck Jonathan must convoke an SNC. There is a need for a national discourse and dialogue. It is only an SNC that will solve the problem. The solution to the Boko Haram crisis is to dissolve the government and convoke an SNC,” Dokubo-Asari told journalists at the meeting with youths of the Niger Delta in Abuja. The ex-Niger Delta militant warned that if the Boko Haram issue could lead to another civil war if not tackled on time. He said the sect’s “arrogance” was unIslamic.
